Fiestas Patrias – Nicaraguan Independence Day

Every September marks the beginning of Independence Day in Nicaragua, along with several other countries in Central America. Most events begin the first of the month and spread through the first two weeks with the biggest celebrations on September 15th. Back in September 1821, the independence wars in every region sparked the interest in becoming a separate nation from Spain

In general, on September 1st, there is an independence day inauguration at the same place and time every year. Students also participate and attend. There is also a torch that travels through Central America, from Guatemala to Costa Rica, transported by feet and from hand to hand through every country. By September 15th, the Act of Independence of Central America is read in all schools in Nicaragua.

I have a lot of pride in my country, this is something I would love to experience in my lifetime.
